Mr. Cobb had spent the greater share of his life in and around Port Gibson. For the past two or three years he had been living with his daughter, Mrs. Frank Mosher, in Palmyra, where he passed away Wednesday, July 25, aged 84 years. He was a Civil War veteran, enlisting at Victor, NY, with the First New York Mounted Rifles. It was very interesting to hear him relate the trials and difficulties he went through in his over three years' service. Mr. Cobb was of a retiring disposition; but when one became well acquainted with him, they found that he was jolly and friendly to the last degree. He leaves five children, Charles E. Cobb of Newark, NY; Frank E. Cobb, Victor; Mrs. Clarence Botcher, Newark, Mrs. Charles F. Aldrich, of Canandaigua; Mrs. Frank S. Mosher, of Palmyra. Funeral services were held last Friday at the home of Mr. F. S. Mosher, Rev. Thomas Tighe officiating.
