A page 285 Written: 16 Mar 1831 Probated: The last will and testament of Griffin Holbrook of the town of Walworth in the county of Wayne and the state of New York. I Griffin Holbrook considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory (blessed be almighty God for the same) do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say) after my death my executor to this my last will is to pay all my debts and funeral charges. Secondly I give and bequeath unto my true and beloved wife Betsey Holbrook one third part of all my estate both personal and real during and as long as she shall remain my widow to wit one third part of that message tenement situated lying and being in the town of Walworth in the county of Wayne and the state of New York being known and distinguished as lot No. one hundred and forty four (144) bounded as follows on the south by lot No. 135 on the east by lot No. 51 on the north by lot No. 145 and on the West by lot No. 143, containing one hundred and two acres more or less, which one third part of the value of said premises shall be so set off as to contain my dwelling house that I now live in together with a suitable share of my barn and corn house and my said wife is to have a certain horse as hers during her natural life and at her decease I give the same to whom she pleases. Item 2: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hulda Robbins five dollars to be paid to my said daughter in one year from my decease. Item 3: I give and bequeath to my Son John Holbrook five dollars to be paid to my said son in one year from my decease. Item to all the rest of my property which I shall die seized of I give to Clarinah Chase Ephraim Holbrook Peter Holbrook David Holbrook Abram Holbrook Isaac Holbrook Jacob Holbrook and Harvey Holbrook all my well beloved children to be equally divided between them, and I do hereby appoint Gardener Tiffany of the town of Walworth county of Wayne and the state of New York my sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made in witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal the sixteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one.
