In the name of God Amen: I John Nichols of the town of Perinton in the county
of Monroe and State of New York of the age of Eighty three years and being of
sound mind and memory do make publish and disclose this my last will and
testament, in manner following, that is to say:

I give devise and bequeath to my sons Charles Nichols, George Nichols, and Asa
Nichols and to my daughters Diana wife of Noah Yale and Laura wife of Daniel
Hine, all my real and personal estate to be divided equally between them share
and share alike. I hereby revoke all former wills by me made.

In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of
July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three.

The above instrument consisting of one sheet, was at the date thereof, signed,
sealed published and declared by the said John Nichols as and for his last
will and testament, in presence of us, who at his request and in his presence
and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses
thereto.

Notes: Soon after his will was written, John Nichols and several of his
children removed to Williamson, Wayne Co., NY, where he died 12 May 1862. He
is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery as are two daughters, Diana and Juliana.
Heirs as listed in probate records were Charles Nichols, Onalaska, La Crosse
Co, WI; George Nichols, Madison, Dane Co., WI; Asa Nichols, Oakley (Spring
Grove), Green Co., WI; Diana Yale (wife of Noah Yale) and Laura J. Northrup
(wife of Albert H. Northrup, formerly wife of Daniel Hine), both of
Williamson. Three more of the Nichols' children (Elijah, Juliana and
Trowbridge) are known to have outlived their father. Why they were not
included in his will still is unknown. John's wife and their mother, Sarah
(Corbin) Nichols, died 9 Apr 1850 in Perinton.
