Rev. War Section. August 10, 1915 Mr. R. J. Rahm, 403 Roy Street, Seattle, Washington. Sir: In reply to your letter dated 29" ultimo, you are advised that it appears in the papers in the Claim of Garret Cronk, Wid. File No. 8,635, Rev. War, that he was born in January 1759, and enlisted at Rampo, New Jersey, in June 1776, as a Private in Captain Egleston's troop,Col. Henry Lee's Regiment of Dragoons; he was in the battles of Cowpens, Guilford, Ninety-Six and Eutaw Springs and was discharged in August 1783, at the head of Elk in Pennsylvania. He married January 8, 1790, at Mt. Plesant, Westchester County, New York, Susannah daughter of Daniel Requa. She was born March 15, 1768. He was allowed pension on an application executed February 15, 1826, while a resident of Lisle, Broome County, New York. He died April 29, 1844, in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and his widow Susannah was allowed pension on an application executed October 22, 1844,while a resident of Deleware Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. In 1848, she had moved near Belleview, Jackson County, Iowa, to live with her son Dennison. Children: Margret - - - - - - - - - - born October 8, 1790. Thomas H. - - - - - - - - - " February 25, 1795. William - - - - - - - - - - - " June 6, 1805. Mary Jane Hardenburg - - " July 21, 1811 Dennison married January 28, 1842, Sarah Chrawshone who was born July 17, 1822 Thomas H. died April 20, 1830. William " June 2, 1837. Gerret (Gerret, Gerret, Herrick, Theunis, Herck) b. Philipsburg in January, 1759, enlisted at Ramapo, N. J., in June 1776. He was taken prisoner by the British and sent to Long Island where he escaped by swimming. He re-enlisted and served seven years in the southern states in CaptEgleston's company of Lee's Dragoons, and was mustered out at the head of Elk Creek, Pennsylvania in August 1783.
