DIED- JAMES L. BROWN James L. Brown died at Anamosa on the 28th ult., in his 78th year. A correspondent of the Dubuque Herald says deceased was born in Westchester County, New York. In 1852 he came west, first stopping in Maquoketa where he engaged for a short time in keeping a public house. While here he put in operation the first line of stages run from Sabula to Anamosa, via Maquoketa. Subsequently he removed to Anamosa, where he resided until his death. He was a man of strict integrity, active, cheerful, religious, affable, and was universally respected and esteemed.
