John Brady of Cortlandt Manor of the County of Westchester and State of New York being week in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be give to God for it calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men ones to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament and touching Such wordly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and despose of the Same in the following mannor and form. First I give and bequeath to my Son John Brady five Pounds to be raised out of my estate for this reason "I have given him his part before…and bequeath to my Son William Brady …..acres of land lying in North Castle also I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Washbon the Sum of twenty pounds to be raised out of my estate. I also I give and bequeath to my Son Zebulon Brady Sixty acres of land lying in North Cassel also I give and be- queath to my Son Simeon Brady forty five acres of land lying in North Cassel also I give and bequeath to my Gransons James Brady Daniel Brady Josiah Brady the Sons of Thomas Brady sixty acres of land lying in North Cassel also I give and bequeath to my daughter Rachel Brundig the Sum of twenty Pounds to be raised out of my estate and I make constitute and ordain my Son and good friends Simeon Brady Abraham Carpenter Joseph Cornal to be my Executors in trust for my Said heirs In Witness Whereof I the John Brady have to this my last will and testament Set my hand and Seal this fourteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and eighty two Signed Sealed published and declared by the Said Testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have Subscribed our names as witnesses thereto John Brady Jonathan Newman, Benjamin Morehouse, Asa Newman, Elizabeth Arnold Westchester County ss; Be it Remembered that on the twenty Seventh day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and eighty four personally came and appear- ed before me Richard Hatfield Esquire Surrogate of the Said County Benjamin More- house of Dutchess County Cordwainer and being duly Sworn on his oath declared that he did See John Brady deceased Sign and Seal the within written instrument purport purporting to be the will of the Said John Brady bearing date the fourteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and eighty two and heard him pub- lish and declare the Same as and for his last will and testament that at the time thereof her the Said John Brady was of Sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and be- lief of him the deponent that his name Subscribed to the Said will is of his own proper hand writing which he Subscribed as a witness to the Said will in the presence of the Testator and that the desp- nent also Jonathan Newman Asa Newman and Elizabeth Arnold the other witnesses to the Said will Subscribe their names as witness thereto in the presence of the testator Richard Hatfield Surrogate The People of the State of New York by the Grace of God Free and Independent To all to whom these presents Shall come or may concern Send Greetings Know Ye that at West- chester County on the twenty Seventh day of May last before Richard Hatfield Esquire there unto by us delegated and appointed the last will and testament of John Brady deceased (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed ?) was proved and is now approved and allowed of by us and the Said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods chattel or credits Within this Sate by means whereof the proving and registering the Said will and the grant- ing Administration of all and Singular the Said goods chattel and credits and also the au- diting allowing the final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto us the Adminis- tration of all and Singular the goods chattels and credit of the Said deceased and anyway concuring his will is granted unto Simeon Brady one of the Executors in the Said will named he being first duly Sworn well and faithfully to administer the Same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and Singular the Said Goods chattel and credits and also to render a just and true account thereof when………(scratches on microfilm)…………….. …………………………………………………………………..
