Domini 1731/2 I Peter Brown of Rye in the county of Westchester in the Province of New York yoeman being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like & decent manner at the discretion of my friend nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner & form. Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my son Ebenezeer Brown my loore loot of land lying on the Hog pen ridge sixteen acres joyning to the same that I purchased of the late Isaac Denhain with the on half of the thurd part of a saw mill standing on blind brook to enter upon at the eage of one and twenty years. Item: I give unto my son Peter Brown one loot of land lying on the aforesaid hog pen ridge that I lately purched of Thomas Brown with the one half of the third part of a saw mill standing on blind browoock to him his heirs and assigns forever to enter upon att the eage of one and twenty years. Item: I give unto my son Nemiah Brown one loot of land lying on the aforesaid hog pen ridge which I purchased of the late deceased Deliverance Brown Esq to him his heirs and assigns forever to enter upon at the eage of one and twenty years, and furthermore I do order and give full to power to my three executors which I shall hereafter name and appoint to make sale of all the remainder part of my lands in Rye and one grist mill with the Stream (?). I shall recite the land which is to be sold my house and homested with the mill one lot that I purchased of Joseph Brondige joyning to land of Samuel Sans (?) and Robt. Bloomer one parcel lying on Watts Brade Pees Comnebly so called on two thurd parts of a loot lying by Josua Brundige my undivided and salt meddow and the money arising from such sals. I do give one full thurd part unto my son Calib Brown to him his heirs and assigns for ever att the eage of one and twenty years, and the remainder part I give to my four daughter and the child that my wife goos with now to be equally divided by my executors to my daughters Elizabeth Brown, Sarah Brown, Rebecca Brown, Hannah Brown and the child that my wife goos with to be paid att lawfull eage furthermore I give and bequeath unto Marthew Brown my dearly and well beloved wife all my movebel estate after my just debts is paid out of the same and the use of all my land and money arising from the aforesaid seals to be att her disposeal untill my children cums to lawfull eage if she remains a widow she taking care that my children is brot up on the same and I do constitute and appoint my well beloved wife Marthew Brown, Jonathan Brown and Hackaliah Brown order them my only executors of this my last Will and Testament giving full power to sell my land as abovesaid and also my grist mill with the Stame and I as hereby uterly disallow revoke and disanull and every other former Testaments, Wills, Legacies and executors by me in any ways before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written. Proby, Joseph Kniffin, Benjamin Brown Probate of Peter Browns Will William Cosby Captain General and Governour in Chief of the Provinces of New York, New Jersey and the Territories thereon depending in America Vice Admiral of the same and Colonel in his majestys army. To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern greeting Know Ye that at New York the twenty eighth day of November instant before Fred K. Morris being thereunto delegated and appointed the last Will and Testament of Peter Brown was proved and now approved and allowed of by me having while he lived and at the time of his death goods rights and credits in diverse places within this Province by means whereof the full disposition of all and singular the goods rights and credits of the said deceased and the granting administration of them as also the hearing of account calculation or reckoning and the final discharge and dismission from the same unto me solely and not unto any other inferior judge are manifestly known to belong and the administration of all and singular the goods rights and credits of the said deceased and his last Will and Testament in any manner of ways concerning was granted unto Martha Brown, Jonathan Brown and Hackaliah Brown the executors in the said will named and appointed chiefly of well and truly administring the same and of making a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods rights and credits of the said deceased and exhibiting the same into the registry of the prerogative court in the secretary's office in the Province of New York at or before the twenty eighth day of May next ensuing the date hereof and of rendering a just and true account calculation or reckoning when thereunto required. In Testimony whereof I have caused the Prerogative Seal of the said Province of New York to be hereunto affixed this twenty eighth day of November Anno: Domini 1733.
