He died shortly after making this application. His last residence was Castile, in Genesee Co., NY. In 1847, Wyoming Co. was created out of the southern portion of Genesee. Thus, I include this at Wyoming Co. The judge hearing this matter, Isaac Wilson, himself led troops in the War of 1812. One of the certifiers, the Rev. Daniel Mabie, is also an ancestor of mine, his daughter Esther, having married Rescom's son Charles, my 3rd-Grt.-grdfather. I have tried to be faithful to the spelling, capitalization, and punctuation (mostly, the lack thereof). I have bracketed words which I simply cannot read. There are cases where it is impossible for me to determine the case of the letter, or the intended punctuation. I cannot find any detailed advice at the tips page, or among the FAQ, so I will proceed to paste the transcript below, hoping that when it is published on a full-sized page, it will appear in good form. ############################## Declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7 1832 State of New York County of Genesee On this 27th day of October 1832 personally appeared before me Isaac Wilson first Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County of Genesee in the state of New York being a court of Record Rescom Tallman a resident of the town of Castile in said County of Genesee age seventy three years the 7th day of January last, who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832.
