(Note: Two siblings of Rebecca (Supplee) Wagener also came to Yates Co., New York, namely, John and Mary, in addition to their sister-in-law, Susannah (Wagener) Supplee Clanford, widow of their brother, Peter Supplee (see History and Directory of Yates County of New York, pp. 123, 138, 370, 454, 637, 662-64, 670, 672, 726, 756, 1159 for references to John; see pp. 53, 64, 83, 97, 454-55, 664 for references to Mary (Supplee) Bartleson Shearman, wife of John Bartleson and then Ezekiel Shearman; and also see pp. 97, 642, 766 for references to Susannah (Wagener) Supplee Clanford, who was also a sister of David Wagener.)) David Wagener was buried in the Lake View Cemetery, Penn Yan, New York. David Wagener's will is recorded in Will Book 1, p. 66 for Ontario Co., New York, since Yates County was not erected until 1823. The record of the birth and death dates of David Wagener, his wife and children were taken from an email message from Allen Mallory, dated 10 Feb 1995 to me; his source, among others, was a book by Samuel Kriebel Brecht, The Genealogical Record of the Schwenkfelder families, Seekers of Religious Liberty Who Fled from Silesia to Saxony and Thence to Pennsylvania in the Years 1731-1737, Printed for the Board of publication of the Schwenkfelder Church, Pennsburg, Pennsylvania by Rand McNally & Co. 1923. David Wagener was an early follower of "The Universal Friend," Jemima Wilkinson, a religious leader, came to what is now Yates County about 1791 and purchased the "Pioneer Mills" from Abraham Dayton on the "27th day of ye 12th Mo. 1791." He was one of the wealthiest men in the early days, as his name appeared on a tax list dated 25 May 1792 for the District of Jerusalem with real estate worth 234 pounds and personal estate worth 26 pounds (see p. 1159 History and Directory of Yates Co., New York). Abraham Wagener born 29 Nov 1774, was said to be a founder of Penn Yan, New York; married (1) Mary Castner, born 1774, died 1811, married (2) Joanna Norris Edmandson, born ca. 1781, died 16 Jan 1854, Penn Yan, Yates Co., New York. Abraham died 21 May 1853, Penn Yan,, New York. Had four or more children. Mary Magdelene Wagener born 14 Feb 1776; married Samuel Castner, born ca. 1762, Pennsylvania, died before 1857. Mary died 10 Nov 1857, Penn Yan, Yates Co., New York; parents of six children. 3. Anna Wagener born 10 Sep 1777; married 1795, Richard Henderson, born 1766 in Ireland, died 1850 in Yates Co., New York; 12 children. Melchoir Wagener born 31 Jan 1779, died June, 1854, Pulteney, Steuben Co., New York; his will recorded in Steuben Co. Will Book 6, pg. 81. References to Melchoir Wagener can be found on pp. 143, 370, 462, 482, 658, 709, 764, 778, 839 of Cleveland's History. 5. Elizabeth Wagener born 27 Aug 1780, died Dec 1784. 6. David Wagener, Jr. born 27 Apr 1783, died 11 May 1787, of small pox. 7. Rebecca Wagener born 1 Jan 1785, died 1 May 1787, of small pox. 8. Lament Wagener born 13 Nov 1787; married Col. Avery Smith, born ca. 1780, (son of Richard Smith and Elizabeth Allen) died 19 Oct 1865, Geneva, Ontario Co., New York. Lament died 14 Sep 1835. Information on Avery Smith can be found on pp. 126-127 of Cleveland's History. Col. Avery Smith served in the New York State Assembly as a representative from Yates Co., New York, also served in War of 1812. His father was Richard Smith of Groton, Conn., mother was Elizabeth Allen, said to be of the Mayflower Allen family. Parents of 12 children. 9. Rachel Wagener born 11 Sep 1789, died 22 Feb 1832. 10. Rebecca Wagener born 1 Feb 1794, married George Shearman. Rebecca died 14 Jan 1855, New York City, New York. There is a probate record for Rebecca Shearman in the Surrogate Court's records of Yates County, in Will Book F, p. 617 which book covers the years 1850-1862.
