She was the widow of Frank Gilbert. Born in Starkey, the daughter of William and Ellen Strouble(sic, should be Struble) Pettingill, she lived at Shannon's Corners for several years and for the past five years, made her home at the Turner Nursing Home in Penn Yan. Most of her life, she served as a practical nurse. She was a member of the Starkey Methodist Church and the Helping hand Society and Ladies Bible Class in the Sunday School of that church. She leaves a son, John of RD 5, Penn Yan; three daughters, Mrs. Harvey Rapalee of Rock Stream, Mrs. Merle Baker of Elmira, and Mrs. Harold Roe of Auburn; a cousin, Mrs. Dolly Florance of Dundee; 23 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Sargent and Oughterson Funeral Home until noon Tuesday. Services were held at 2 p. m. today at the Starkey Methodist Church, the Rev. Carlton Stevens, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Benjamin Disbrow, pastor of the Dundee Baptist Church.
