John P. Knox - 25 September, 1896 In the Name of God, Amen I, Richard Danes of the Village of Penn Yan, County of Yates and State of New York, being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, explain, publish, and declare this to be my last will and testament. That is to say: First: After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give and bequeath to my daughter Emma Veeder all the personal property of which I shall be possessed including money and obligations of every name and nature. Second: I give and devise and bequeath to my said daughter Emma Veeder all the real estate of which I shall die seized and possessed, said real estate being the house and lot on Benham Street in said Village of Penn Yan on the west side of said street being bounded on the south by land of Clarence Knapp 10 rods, on the east by said Benham Street 78 « feet, on the north by land of Kenneth Ross 10 rods and the west by lands of R. B. Lefferts and land of Catharine Champlin 78 « feet, to have and to hold the same for and during her natural life and at her decease I give and devise said real estate to the heirs of her body ?(2 illegible words)?constitute and appoint my said daughter Emma Veeder to be sole executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
