Oliver Township McNeilan, Rev. Wm., born may 1, 1808, in Tyrone County, Ireland, died in Adams County, Ohio, Sept. 19, 1876, aged 68y 4mo & 18days -"Why should our tears in sorrow flow, When God calls his own, And bids them leave a world of woe, for an Immortal crown. Then let our sorrows cease to flow, God has called his own, But, let our heart in every way, Still say, Thy will be done" - Rev. William McNeilan is our first American ancestor (that we know of). He came over in 1839 with his wife, Sarah, (Sally) Robinson McNeilan, who is buried next to him, and his family: a son, Samuel, born in 1830, twin sons, William (Billy) & James (Jimmy), born Aug. 1, 1832, son John, born 1836/1837, and daughters Jane (1838-1840), Eliza (1841 0 1842), and Margaret (Feb. 2, 1847). Rev. Wm. was the first superintendant of the county poor house. Billy was a horse trader and Jimmy was also a minister.
