Witnesseth that the said Abraham Shepherd and Margaret his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars lawful money of the United State to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and forever acquit and discharge the said John Alexander his heirs and assigns hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said John Alexander his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Adams and State of Ohio Situated on the waters of Red Oak being part of an entry No. four thousand four hundred and eighteen entered in the name of Elijah Cuckin and by the Collector of the Second Collection District of the State of Ohio transferred to Abraham Shepherd which the records of the county of Adams will more fully testify Beginning at two bushes in the line of Samuel Hopkins Survey No. Eleaven hundred and Sixty three then South eleven degrees West one hundred and five poles to a Linn Elm & Beech thence East one hundred and Sixty seven and one fourth poles to a Gum Sugar tree and beech thence North one hundred and two poles to three small black locusts and Sugar tree thence West One hundred and forty seven and one fourths poles to the beginning containing one hundred acres together with all improvements water courses profits and appertainences whatsoever to the said premises belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion remainders and profits thereof and all the estate right title interest property claim and demand of them the said Abraham Shepherd and Margaret his wife of in and to the same to have and to hold the lands hereby [conveyed] with all and singular the premises and every part and parcel thereof with every of the appertainences unto the said John Alexander his heirs and assigns forever but provided the aforesaid tract or parcel of land should be lost through the claim of any other person or persons whatsoever they the said Abraham Shepherd and Margaret his wife their heirs Executors or Administrators will refund one hundred and fifty Dollars to the said John Alexander his heirs or assigns but no other costs or damages which may accru in consequence thereoff. In Witness whereof they the said Abraham Shepherd and Margaret his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and date above written. Abraham Shepherd (Seal) Margaret Shepherd (Seal) Signed Sealed and delivered in the presents of us William Shepherd, James Moore State of Ohio, Adams County ) Personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and [for] the county aforesaid the within named Abraham Shepherd and acknowledged the within signing and sealing to be his act and deed for the the purposes therein mentioned and at the same time appeared the within named Margaret Shepherd wife of said Abraham Shepherd and being separate and apart from her said husband I made known the contents of the within conveyance to her and She declared that she did voluntarily and of her own free will and accord sign and seal and as her act and deed deliver said deed without any coertion or compultion of her said husband.
