The cause of his death is supposed to have been paralysis of the heart and he had been dead but a short time when the discovery was made. Deceased was one of Adams county's best citizens. He was born Novenber 11, 1822, therefore was 78 years, 2 months and 16 days old at the time of his death. In1850 he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret A. Holmes, who died in 1890. Of this union five children were born, the first born, Matilda, dying at the age of five years. The children surviving their farther are two sons, Oscar F. and Warren S., and two daughters, Mrs. J. T. Leach and Mrs. Fred A. Wisecup. He was a brother of S.P. Clark, of Oliver township; John Clark and Mrs. J.W. McClung, of this place; A. R. Clark, of Pawnee City, Neb.,; Mrs. A. R. Leach, of North Liberty, and Mrs. J.A. McSurely, of Oxford, all of whome survive him. Deceased was a christian gentleman in every sense of the word and for many years was a member of the Presbyterian church at Wheat Ridge. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Monday. The services wer conducted by his pastor, Rev. Dobson, assisted by Rev. Burnsides, of the U. P. chruch and were largely attended.
