Long’s Career. ------------ Mr. P.M. Long, of Rarden, committed suicide by taking a dose of Rough on Rats. Mr. Long was a cooper by trade and moved his family to Rarden last spring, since which time he has been employed at that place. Mr. Long is supposed to have taken the poison while suffering from the effects of liquor, as he had been drinking all the previous week, although he had never been known to drink to excess before, and seemed perfectly happy in his home life. On the morning of the 18th he got up about 5 o’clock, and went to the barn, where he had a box of Rough on Rats, and took a teaspoon of its contents, and then went back to bed. He soon commenced getting sick, and told his wife what he had done and asked her to go for the doctor, as he felt very bad. Medical aid failed to help him and in a few hours he died. His wife is left in almost destitute circumstances, her only living relative is a sister, (Mrs. Colvin) who resides in Portsmouth, with whom Mrs. Long will stay. The body was taken to Vanceburg for burial.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/oh/adams/obits/long590nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/ohfiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
