Ironton Register, September 3, 1863
Departed this life, after a protracted illness with Typhoid fever, on Tuesday 
evening, September 1st, SARAH A. RICHARDS, aged 35 years, 10 months, and 22 
days.  The deceased has been a member of the Presbyterian church for the last 
fifteen years, having joined in early youth, at Burlington, Ohio.  She came to 
Ironton with her husband, Mr. Samuel Richards, in November 1852, shortly after 
her marriage.  Mrs. Richards was born in West Union, Adams County, Ohio, but 
was brought up in Burlington, in this county.  Her father, Mr. John S. Kelvy, 
who deceased many years since, will be remembered by many, as among the former 
well known and honored citizens of this county, being distinguished for the 
extent and solidity of his Scientific acquirements, and the strict integrity of 
his private and public character.  He was the intimate friend and associate of 
Judge Joseph Wheeler, Benjamin Johnston, and others of our elder citizens, who 
within a few months have passed from among us.  Under the instruction and care 
of such a father was Mrs. Richard's childhood and youth passed.  Thus has 
departed from our midst a quiet, unobtrusive, christian lady.  She will long be 
remembered by a wide circle of relations and friends.

Her funeral will take place to-day, (Thursday, September 3d) at 10 o'clock, A. 
M., corner of Centre and Sixth streets, Ironton, Ohio.  Friends of the family 
are invited to attend.
