Xenia Evening Gazette
 James Shoemaker, 76, died at the home of his son, Charles, Little St. Saturday 
afternoon at 5:10 o'clock. In failing health several weeks his condition became 
serious last Tuesday.
 Mr. Shoemaker was born in Adams County and had lived in Xenia two years. He is 
survived by three children: Charles, and Mrs. Susan Bennington of Xenia: Carey 
of Oregonia: and a brother Jacob of Bainbridge, O. His wife Minerva Shoemaker 
preceded him in death.
 Funeral services will be conducted at the Neeld Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m. 
in charge of Rev. Paul Bassett of the Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in 
Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening.


Additional Comments:
Carey was my great grandfather he married Ella Hill. Earlier census records had 
shown James and Minerva also had a son Nelson M. Shoemaker, I am assuming he 
may have passed away.
