A. ARMSTRONG, an old citizen of the county, and County Treasurer. He died about 6 o’clock on Sunday morning last. Heart trouble was the more immediate cause of death, though there seemed to be a complication of diseases, the lungs being affected and the kidneys. He was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, February 26th, 1827, and was 54 years old at his death. He came to Allen county with his father General William Armstrong, in the fall of 1840. He went to California in 1849, by the overland route, where he remained two years. He was married twice, his first wife being a sister of Mrs. N. A. Smith, and T. T. Mitchell; his second wife is a daughter of the late Judge T. M. Robb. He was elected County Treasurer in the fall of 1879, and assumed the duties of the office last September, serving just about nine months. He leaves a wife and five young children. The funeral was held from the West Market Street Presbyterian Church, at 2 p.m., on Tuesday last. He was buried in the old cemetery.
