Lima News, September 12, 1939
N. W. “Dick” Cunningham, 83, a lifelong resident of Allen-co died at his home 
in Bluffton, yesterday.  He had been ill for more than a year.

Mr. Cunningham was born on a farm south of Lima. He was a young newspaperman 
in the 1870’s and in 1875 he resurrected the Bluffton News.  He headed that 
publication until about 1900 at which time he sold it to Jess Huber.  He was 
president of the Bluffton bank until it closed in 1931.  He was connected with 
that institution for nearly twenty-five years.

Cunningham was a member of the Bluffton Presbyterian church and a member of 
the Masonic lodge.

His wife is the only close survivor.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at the Bluffton Presbyterian 
church with Rev. C. N. Armentrout, officiating.
