FELTZ was born March 18, 1843, in Seneca- co. In 1850 his parents moved to Mercer-co. where they settled on a farm. In early manhood he served as a school teacher in Sidney and throughout Shelby-co. He was married to ELIZABETH HOLTGREVE in Delphos, April 19, 1864, and to this union five children were born. They are L. A. FELTZ, of 304 Lincoln-av; A. G. FELTZ and A. C. FELTZ, Route 7, Lima and O. J. and H. FELTZ, deceased. He came to Lima in 1866 and established himself in the insurance business, and next founded the Lima Courier, a German newspaper which he conducted until 1890 when he sold the plant to ADOLPH WEIXELBAUM. He was the founder and organizer of the Citizens Loan and Building Co., in 1882 and was president of the institution until the time of his death. He served two terms as county auditor, from 1900 to 1906. Surviving are his widow, three sons, 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services will be conducted from St. Rose Catholic church, interment at Gethsemane.
