HERR, 90, died at 2:20 p.m. April 2, 1999 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. He was born Sept. 19, 1908, in Bluffton to William Henry and Alice Daniels Herr. He had been married to Ellen Rosaland Clark. Mr. Herr retired from Farmers’ Grain Elevator, Pandora. He was a member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving at Guadalcanal and receiving the Purple Heart. He was a graduate of Bluffton High School. Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. (Laura) Herr, of Westerville and Richard J. (Cherie) Herr of Arlington; two daughters, Mary Anna Herr of Ottawa and Gay Ellen (Eddie) Norris of Massilon; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Edgar, Forrest, Woodrow, Millard, and Olan Herr; and three sisters, Emma Herr and Rowena and Blanche Lewis. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bluffton Chapel of Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Homes. Chaplain William Herr will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mennonite Memorial Home.
