Richie. Business Houses Close; Hundreds Attend Last Sad Rites at Church. Services Beautiful and Impressive—Knights of Pythias in Charge. Walter B. Richie, who died April 2, was one of Lima’s best known citizens and philanthropists. Hundreds of persons attended the funeral at the Market Street Presbyterian church this afternoon, many being unable to gain admission to the building. The church was crowded with lifelong friends of the deceased, business acquaintances, and many whom he had at one time or another helped during his life. Rev. THOMAS KNOX, pastor of the Market Street Presbyterian church, recited the opening prayer, and the sermon was delivered by Rev. DAVID JONES, of Evanston, Ill., former pastor of the Market Street church, and a very close friend of the deceased. The honorary pallbearers were: Judge M. L. BECKER, Dr. J. P. VAIL, O. B. SELFRIDGE, S. S. WHEELER, R. L. BATES AND D. J. CABLE. The active pallbearers were: H. O. BENTLEY, D. W. MORRIS, FRANK C. CUNNINGHAM, WILLIAM BLACKBURN AND CLARENCE MILLER. Following the impressive and solemn services at the church, the funeral cortege wended its way to Woodlawn cemetery, where the body was placed in a temporary vault for ten days, after which it will be consigned to the grave in the family lot at the cemetery.
