Mrs. Simon Runyan died at her home on west Third street at 20 minutes past 7 o'clock Sunday evening from a complication of diseases. Mrs. Runyan's health began to fail last May and during the month of July she was compelled to take to her bed, where she has remained in an almost helpless condition until death relieved her of her sufferings. Elizabeth Jane Himmelright was born in Miami County Jan. 13, 1835, and died in Delphos Jan. 26, 1902, being 67 years of age. She came to Delphos with her parents, Samuel and Mary Himmelright, when but 12 years of age and resided at this place until her death. She was married to Simon Runyan January 28, 1858, and to them were born four children, who with her husband survive her. They are Samuel Runyan of Delphos; Wm. Runyan, Lima; Jas. Runyan, Philadelphia; and Mrs W.T. Lewis, Delphos. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister, Jas. and Ed. Himmelright of Delphos; J.W. Himmelright, Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Frank Burkmeyer, Danville, Ill. Deceased was a devout member of the M.E. church and always found at the meeting in the house of worship when her health would permit. She was one of those sturdy pioneers of this section who so ably assisted in paving the way and bringing this country out of the wilderness and converting it into a comely garden spot which the younger generation now enjoy. She was a kind wife and a loving mother, always having the interests in her home foremost in her desires, and the world was made the better by her being in it. Funeral services over the remains will be held from the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. E.A. Strother of the M.E. church. Interment in the West Side cemetery.
