SIMON SHAFFER LYDIA MILLER was born in Amanda Township, Allen County, one mile north of the Hartford Church, November 23,1850. She departed this life at Spencerville, August 10, 1917, age 66 years, 9 months and 17 days. The deceased was married to DANIEL RICHARDSON in 1867, To this union seven children were born, four sons and three daughters, two of the daughters have preceded the mother in death. Mr. Richardson, the husband died in 1887. In 1889, the deceased married JOHN VEALE. Two sons were born to this union, both of whom are still living. July 5, 1912, Mr. Veale was claimed by death. November 17, 1913, she married Simon Shaffer with whom she lived until death claimed her. In 1889, Mrs. Shaffer professed faith in CHRIST, under the pastorate of REV. MICHEAL MARTZ and united with the Hartfod Christian Church. Mrs. Shaffer leaves to mour their lose, a husband, SIMON SHAFFER, seven children, six sons and one daughter as follows: JOSEPH RICHARDSON, Lima, CHARLES C., DANIEL W., and WILLIAM H. RICHARDSON , HENRY A. and LAWRENCE A. VEALE of Chicago, and THURSEY ROBERTS, of Topeka, Kansas. Six step-children, ABBY SHAFFER, Oklahoma, ROSA MILLER, Huntington, MICHEAL SHAFFERE, Spencerville, CARL SHAFFER, Spencerville, MARGARET MILLER Greenville. Five grandchildren , five great-grandchildren; two brothers HARVEY A. MILLER, Wapakoneta, HENRY C. MILLER, Chatanooga; two sisters Mrs MARY RICHARDSON, Spencerville, and Mrs. CYTHNIA VANDERVORT< Henning, Ill. and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the HArtford Christian Church, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of REV. G.W. FOLTZ and the body was tenderly laid to rest in the Hartford Mausoleum.
