Pierce St., Friday morning. at 9:15. The deceased was born March 24,1808, spending his early years in Fayette County, Pa. At the age of nineteen he married Miss Jennie BENTLY, and three years later moved to Trumbull County, Ohio. He remained there eight years and came to Allen County in the winter of 1837, and purchased land west of this city, along the Ottawa river, where he lived until the fall of 1874, and then removed to this city. His wife died Nov. 9,1874. The deceased was the father of one son and five daughters. The son died in the army service in Tenn. during the Civil War. One daughter died in Grand Rapids, Mich., and one daughter died in this city; the three surviving members of the family are Mrs. Henry CLOSE and Mrs. O. FOSTER, of Kansas, and Mrs. Jane KRIDLER of Grand Rapids, Mich. Funeral services were held Sunday Submitted by Linda Dietz Apr. 8, 2000
