Cross Petition, Filed by Ferdinand Best. The answer to the petition for divorce filed by Alta May Best against her husband, Ferdinand Best, was filed yesterday by the latter's attorneys, Ogan & Grindle. The defendant alleges desertion, without cause, and asks that the divorce be not granted. March 8, 1907 NOAH H. ASHBA VS AMY A ASHBA. Noah H. Ashba, through his attorney, M. J. Sanford, filed a petition for divorce from Amy A. Ashba. He states that he was married to the defendant in Hardin county, O., December 31, 1884. One child, Zena, now twenty years of age, was born to the union. The plaintiff charges gross neglect of duty in that the defendant on September 18, 1906, left his home and has since wholly disregarded her marital duties. He asks for a divorce and that the defendant be barred of all claim to two pieces of real estate in Birmingham, Alabama owned by the plaintiff. ELIZABETH BIRACREE VS. BERNARD BIRACREE. Petition for the severance of the marriage bond was filed by Elizabeth, who says that she was married to Bernard Biracree at Celina, Ohio, in 1880. They have no children. She alleges that he is n habitual drunkard and that he has been guilty of extreme cruelty, striking her with his fists, using vile and profane language and accusing her of unchastity. March 19, 1907 WILLIAM CLEMONS VS. SADIE CLEMONS. Divorce Granted. Judge Quail this morning granted the plea of William Clemons and gave him a decree of divorce from his wife Sadie. The plaintiff proved that the defendant had been willfully absent for more than three years past. March 27, 1907 FRANCES GARLAND VS CHARLES GARLAND. LEGAL NOTICE. Frances Garland, Plaintiff, vs Charles Garland, defendant, in the Court of Common Pleas of Allen County, Ohio. Charles Garland whose place of residence is unknown, and who is made party defendant in the above entitled action will take notice that on the 28th day of February, 1907, Francis Garland filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Allen County, Ohio, against him the said Charles Garland, her petition for divorce from said defendant on the grounds of gross neglect of duty, and for the custody of her minor children. Said petition will be for hearing on and after the expiration of six weeks from March 1, 1907; and said defendant is required to answer in said case within that time or be in default. In the divorce case of Finnell vs Finnell, the plaintiff was this afternoon awarded a decree and restored to her maiden name of Charlotte Lenore Detwiler. The matter of alimony was left to the attorneys of the litigants for agreement. May 2, 1907 Elopement of Prominent Rural Couple Several Months Ago Brought to Mind by a DIVORCE GRANTED Last Night. Martin Fisher is Given a Legal Separation from his Wife, Who is Alleged to have Skipped with William Cochensparger. Several months ago it was alleged that William E. Cochensparger had eloped with Mrs. Alice Fisher, both families being well known and estimable people of that community and Cochensparger leaving a wife, child and real property. Last evening a divorce decree virtually based on the allegations named above was grant ___________, while Mrs. Cochensparger now has a divorce action pending against her missing husband, as well as having had a receiver named for his farm lands and other property. Judge Armstrong granted the decree to the husband on the grounds of desertion. May 8, 1907 LULU KEEFER VS WILLIAM O. KEEFER. An action in divorce was filed yesterday by Lulu Keefer against William O. Keefer in which the petition alleges gross neglect of duty, extreme cruelty and habitual drunkenness. May 24, 1907 THOMAS F. McELWEE, PLAINTIFF VS MAUD McELWEE, DEFENDANT. Legal Notice. The defendant will take notice that the plaintiff filed his certain petition in the Court of Common Pleas of Allen County, Ohio, on the 12th day of March, 1907, Number 12957, against said defendant praying for divorce on the grounds of gross neglect of duty. In the divorce action of William Richmond against Nellie Richmond, Judge Quail granted a decree to the defendant on her answer and cross petition on the grounds of extreme cruelty. July 20, 1907 MARTHA RAILING VS EDWARD RAILING. Martha Railing was granted a divorce from her husband, Edward BERTHA EMMERICK VS WALKER EMMERICK. Bertha Emmerick was granted a divorce from her husband, Walker, on the grounds of gross neglect and extreme cruelty SANFORD SIDES VS ELLIE SIDES. Sanford Sides was granted a divorce from his wife, Ellie, on the grounds of adultery. MATTIE LLEWELYN VS A. A. LLEWELYN. On July 19, 1907, Mattie Llewelyn was granted a decree for divorce from her husband, A. A. Llewelyn, and all property rights. The defendant is to receive $1300 dollars. July 23, 1907 MARTHA BLAIR VS B. W. BLAIR. Martha Blair has filed an action in divorce and alimony and property rights, also filing an injunction against the incumbrance or disposal of any real personal property. August 6, 1907 ANNA M. HOLTEN VS WALTER HOLTEN. Judge Mathers came up from Sidney this morning and this afternoon passed upon the divorce case of Anna M. Holten vs. Walter Holten, finding for the plaintiff, and granting her the custody of the three children and $20 a month alimony. The father to provide clothing and furnish school books for the boy. This case was heard six months ago and was bitterly contested. R. L. Armstrong was the attorney for the plaintiff and Copeland & Rogers attorneys for the defendant. August 26, 1907 CORA E. MILLS VS CHARLES F. MILLS. Legal Notice: Charles F. Mills, whose place of residence is unknown, will take notice that on the 17th day of August, 1907, the undersigned plaintiff filed her petition in the court of common pleas Allen county, Ohio, being cause number 13,112, praying for a divorce from the said Charles F. Mills on the ground of gross neglect of duty and praying for divorce from said defendant and restoration to her former name. Ward, for divorce but granted no decree, the case being left open for further evidence which the plaintiff's attorney wishes to introduce. September 30, 1907 LIZZIE BATTLE VS LOUIS BATTLE. Judge Quail granted a decree to the plaintiff, yesterday in the divorce action of Lizzie Battle against Louis Battle, also alimony in the sum of $500 and defendant is required to pay in addition $10 a month for the support of their minor child until it has reached the age of sixteen years. October 10, 1907 MARTHA RALSTON VS JASPER RALSTON. Mrs. Martha Ralston this morning filed a petition for a divorce from her husband Jasper Ralston. In her petition she alleges that Jasper is a habitual drunkard, that he is absent from home a great deal and when he is at home, that he is very cruel to her. She also claims that some time ago he sold all their belongings for $5 and left her penniless. She prays the court that she be granted a divorce, that her maiden name be given her and also that alimony be allowed. October 19, 1907 LOUVINIA DEVINNEY VS ELMER DEVINNEY. Mrs. Louvinia DeVinney has filed an action for divorce from her husband, Elmer, who she claims, is a habitual drunkard, and that he is willfully absent for the greater part of their married life, and although married for nearly 9 years they have been together but about one year. EVA D. FREEMAN VS WILLIAM C. FREEMAN. The defendant, William C. Freeman, whose residence is unknown, will take notice that on the 11th day of September, A.D., 1907, the plaintiff filed her certain petition in the Court of Common Pleas of Allen County, State of Ohio, praying for divorce on the grounds of gross neglect of duty, for the custody of the children and alimony. October 30, 1907 BLANCHE CARR VS HARRY CARR. Judge Quail yesterday granted a divorce to Blanche Carr against her husband Harry Carr. The decree was granted to the plaintiff on the grounds of extreme cruelty and she was restored to her maiden name of Blanche Wells. November 13, 1907 SARAH S. CONKLIN VS PHILANDER CONKLIN. Judge Quail yesterday granted a decree in the divorce case of Sarah S. Conklin vs. her husband, Philander on the grounds of gross neglect of duty. November 20, 1907 NEVA B. SKINNER VS GEORGE E. SKINNER. A divorce decree was granted on the grounds of willful absence and the plaintiff was returned to her maiden name of Eva Hou_tiger. R. L. Armstrong Attorney for the plaintiff. November 21, 1907 Judge Quail granted three divorce decrees today: Mattie E. Shaffer vs. Albert R. Shaffer. Decree granted. Gross neglect of duty and extreme cruelty. Emma Miller was released from the ties that bound her to Elmer Miller. Mary Lechleitner was given a decree on the grounds of three years willful absence. November 23, 1907 Two more divorces granted by Judge Quail this morning: Bessie Ham, who recently sued Thomas Ham for divorce on the grounds of adultery and extreme cruelty, was this morning granted a decree by Judge Quail. According to the evidence introduced the act of adultery was committed at Continental with a fifteen year old girl one night when Ham, his wife and the girl occupied the same bed. The judge refused the divorce on the grounds of adultery but granted a decree to the plaintiff on the charge of extreme cruelty. The evidence further proved that since their marriage some four years ago they had moved eleven times. In the case of J. B. Young vs. Ethel Young, Judge Quail today granted a decree for plaintiff on the grounds of gross neglect of duty. R. L. Armstrong, Attorney. In the divorce contention of Hazel Byrd, Judge Quail allowed the wife two dollars per week alimony for the support of herself and child pending the hearing of the case. Attorney R. L. Armstrong represents the plaintiff. December 6, 1907 Divorce Granted. Judge Armstrong was in the city yesterday and heard further testimony in the divorce action of Mary Ness against her husband, Joseph, after which he granted a decree to the plaintiff on the grounds of gross neglect of duty. December 14, 1907 Upon request of Judge Quail, Judge Mathers will be in the city today to hear the divorce action of Martha A. Huffman, against her husband, Ballard W., former postmaster of West Cairo. The pleadings in the case are of a sensational nature and will no doubt attract the usual crowd of spectators. In the divorce action of Granville Stephens against his wife Emma, an answer was filed yesterday in which the allegations of cause for divorce are generally denied.
