During the two days battle between Thomas and Hood for possession of Nashville, several companies of the regiment were under fire. Faithful service to the Nation in the line of duty marked out for it was given by the men of this regiment until ordered home for discharge, which was given at Tod Barracks, Columbus, June 18, 1865.
