History Of The 176th Ohio Volunteer Infantry
THE ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-SIXTH REGIMENT

Was organized at Camp Chase, September 21, 1864, and immediately ordered to
Nashville, Tennessee, where it was assigned to the Second Brigade, Fourth Division,
Twentieth Army Corps, and detailed to provost duty in that city. During the two days
battle between Thomas and Hood for possession of Nashville, several companies of the
regiment were under fire. Faithful service to the Nation in the line of duty marked
out for it was given by the men of this regiment until ordered home for discharge,
which was given at Tod Barracks, Columbus, June 18, 1865. Company F was raised in
Ashland county.
