When quite young he came with his parents to Ohio, and located at Sand Ridge, south of Loudonville, where he spent nearly all his life, with the exception of a few years when he resided at Bellville, Richland county. He was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Brokaw, October 6, 1860. To this union eleven children were born, two daughters, Mrs. Jacob Ader and Emma, having preceded their father in death. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served his country for two years as a member of Company G, 64th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He united with the First Baptist church of Loudonville during the pastorate of Rev. Robert Hughes, and remained a consistent member until the end, which came to relieve his sufferings after a lingering illness, Saturday morning, November 8th, at a 6 o’clock. Aged 78 years, 5 months and 9 days. Besides the bereaved widow, he leaves to mourn his departure the following children: Mrs. Edward Stutz, Mrs. Frank Wiley, Clarence Frank and Caleb Jordan, of Ashland; Thomas Jordan, of Butler; Peter High Jordan, of near Newville; Calvin Jordan and Mrs. Cyrus Sellers, of Loudonville, besides a number of grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home of his son, Calvin Jordan, on South Wood street, on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. M.T.
