Mrs. Jane Sheppard was born November 4, 1826 in Kent County, England, and peacefully passed away May 8, 1907, being 80 years, 5 months, 12 days of age. She was married to John Sheppard in Brombley, England, October 8, 1843. This union was blessed with 11 children, 10 sons and 1 daughter. John Sheppard, her companion, died October 29, 1894, and 4 sons and 1 daughter preceded her in death. One sister, Mrs. Harriet Dove, of this place, 6 sons, Frederick, Edward, Benjamin, Richard, William, and Charles, 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and many friends are felt to mourn their loss. Mrs. Sheppard came from London to this country in 1852 was a resident of Ashland county, 55 years. While in her native country the deceased was member of the Episcopalian Church. Mrs. Sheppard had been in poor health for sometime. She suffered exteremely the last months and weeks of her life. She expressed her trust in God and her hope of eternal life. She was a good mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren as well as her neighbors and friends. Peace be to her memory.
