It has come to my attention that the 'HISTORY OF OHIO" by the American Historical Society Inc. 1925 Volume IV Page 274 contains incorrect information. It reads that the second wife of William Crockett of Ashtabula Co., OH was Sallie Caldwell from PA. This information is incorrect. It should read that the second wife of William CROCKETT from Crawford Co., PA was Sally Ann CADWELL (Cole) widow of Ahira COLE who was the son of Ezra COLE and Mercy HADLOCK who arrived from Cayuga Co., NY. about 1826. Sally Ann CADWELL was born in Farmington, Hartford Co., CT in 1814 and came to Ashtabula Co., Ohio in 1822 with her parents Horace and Sally CADWELL who are both buried in Pandanaram Cemetery in Ohio. The Cadwell family was well represented in Hartford Co., CT from the mid 1600's and intermarried into many of the founding families Gina << Start of Forwarded message via Prodigy Mail >> From: Gonore Subject: Crockett-Cadwell Date: 03/01 Time: 01:17 PM Return-Path: Received: from imo26.mx.aol.com (imo26.mx.aol.com [198.81.17.70]) by pimaia1y-ext.prodigy.com (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id NAA52486 for ; Mon, 1 Mar 1999 13:16:24 -0500 From: Gonore@aol.com Received: from Gonore@aol.com by imo26.mx.aol.com (IMOv18.1) id JFVAa00804 for ; Mon, 1 Mar 1999 12:58:52 -0500 (EST) Message-ID: <9d634736.36dad55c@aol.com> Date: Mon, 1 Mar 1999 12:58:52 EST To: AUPQ38A@prodigy.com Mime-Version: 1.0 Subject: Crockett-Cadwell Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: AOL 4.0 for Windows 95 sub 13 It has come to my attention that the 'HISTORY OF OHIO" by the American Historical Society Inc. 1925 Volume IV Page 274 contains incorrect information. Edward V. Rickenbacker is reported to have said that the real heroes of the World war were those who made the supreme sacrifice, who gave their lives in the service of their country. To this class belong more than 6,500 of the khaki-clad boys of Ohio, who won the golden star in the greatest of all the wars of history and in the supreme effort to win a peace, which we fondly trust shall be perpetual. * Killed in action + Died of wounds # Died as result of accident Where no mark is used the soldier died of disease. LIPPS, Kinsman, OH LRLBugsy@aol.com Researching ancestors & descendants of Daniel LIPPS/1792/Greenbriar Co., WV March 3, 1999 ************************************************************************ This sketch was taken from History of Ashtabula County, Ohio, A History of the People of the County, By the People of the County, 1985, Compiled and Published by Ashtabula County Genealogical Society. Albert D. and Florella (Keller) LITTLER Albert Decatur Littler was born 21 November, 1862. His parents were John Talbert and Harriett (Morgan) Littler. He was a direct descendant of Samuel and Rachel (Minshall) (Taylor) Littler who came to this country ca. 1699 from Cheshire area of England. For many generations, the Littlers were Quakers or Friends. Albert's forebears lived in southern Pennsylvania, and in northern Virginia for over 100 years before coming to Green County, Ohio ca. 1825. More of Albert's genealogy can be found in George Walker Vale's "Genealogy of the Vale, Walker, Littler and other Related Families" 1973; "Hopewell Friends History" 1734-1934, Frederick County, Virginia; and in "Hardin County Ohio History" 1983. Albert married Florella Keller 16 January, 1887. She was born 9 October, 1865, probably Bokes Creek Twp., Logan Co., Ohio. She was the daughter of Rachel (Keller) Green. Florella was a school teacher. Ca. 1760, Florella's Great-Great-Grandparent, Jacob Keller, moved from his native Switzerland to an adjacent County of Wurttenberg, Germany. In 1799 he and his wife, Barbara, and four children left Germany for America. They landed at New York harbor and settled in western Pennsylvania. Their children moved on to Columbiana Co., Ohio where Frederick, their eldest son, married and moved on to become an early settler in Logan Co., Ohio in 1816. More Keller family history is published in "Logan County Ohio History", 1982, and "Davis, Keller, Skidmore Families" by Miss Ruth Inskeep of Bellefontaine, Ohio. Albert was a tenant farmer, merchant and trader. He lived in the Ridgeway-Mt. Victory area, but not always in the same county, since Ridgeway is on the Logan-Hardin County line and nearby Mr. Victory, although in Hardin County, is not far from Marion County and Union County. At one time, Albert worked at the Huber Company plant in Marion, Ohio. For a while, before moving to Ashtabula County, he owned a General Store and residence in Claibourne, Union County, Ohio. In 1916, he traded the store and residence for the Decker family farm in Colebrook Twp., Ashtabula County, Ohio and became a dairy farmer. He shipped fluid milk to the East Orwell milk plant. He also made maple syrup, in season, and raised a few hogs. I don't know who initiated the idea, but their son, Walter, and family moved from Hardin County to Colebrook in March, 1918. Walter's family moved in with Albert's for a short time, then rented Isabell Fee's farm and moved to the two family house on it. During 1919, Albert and Florella sold the Decker farm to John Holser and family from Indiana and bought the Jesse Fee farm 1/2 mile south, on the same road. They moved and settled for the winter but did not get to enjoy their new farm very long. They caught the flu and died of pneumonia in February, 1920. Florella died 11 February, 1920. Albert died 13 February, 1920. They were interred in Hale Cemetery, west of Mt. Victory, Hardin County, Ohio. ----M.
