Johnson, Deceased The State of Ohio, Ashtabula County *** Be it remembered that at the term of the Court of Common Pleas begun and held at Jefferson in said County on the twenty fourth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five before the Honorable George Tod Esquire President and Amos Kellogg and Titus Hayes Esquire Associates sitting as a Court of Probate it was on motion ordered by said Court that Lucy Johnson be appointed Administratrix and Wooster Benjamin Administrator on the Estate of Nathan C. Johnson Deceased, and that the Administrators aforsaid give Bond in the sum of Two hundred Dollars, with Epaphras Lyman and Benjamin Carpenter as surities. Epaphras Lyman, John Ten and Merick Bates to be appointers to appraise the personal property of said Estate. In pursuance of which order a letter of Administration was issued by the clerk of our said Court on the twenty ninth day of October in the year aforesaid and delivered to the said Administrator and Administratrix and which is in the words and figures following to wit. The State of Ohio, Ashtabula County The Honorable George Tod President of the third Circuit Hayes Esquire his Associates, Judges of the same Court within and for the County of Ashtabula aforesaid, in the name and by the Authority of the State of Ohio. To All to whom these presents shall come, Be it Known, that Administration of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits, which were of Nathan C. Johnson late of the township of Andover in the county aforesaid Deceased, at the time of his death is hereby committed unto Lucy Johnson Administratrix and Benjamin Wooster Administrator whose duty it shall be (under oath) to have all and singular the singular the said goods and chattels appraised and inventoried by Epaphras Lyman, John Ten and Merick Bates freeholders of the County aforesaid (after deducting one Bed and Bedding the wearing apparel of the deceased for the and such other provisions as the Appraisers aforesaid shall consider reasonable for the support of herself and children one year) and make return thereof (signed by the said Appraisers) with a bill of the sale of the Goods and chattels of the said Deceased together with a true and Accurate Statement of the debts due and owing to the said Nathan C. Johnson Deceased, to the Office of the Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas for the County aforesaid, within three months from the date hereof; and moreover, to adjust and settle up the account of their Administration within twelve months from the date hereof as the Law directs. And we do by these presents appoint the said Lucy Johnson Administratrix and Wooster Benjamin Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits which were of the said Nathan C. Johnson Deceased. In testimony of which we have caused the seal of our said Court to be hereunto Affixed. Witness the Honorable George Tod Esquire President thereof at Jefferson in said County, the 29th day of October Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and twenty five. T.R. Hawley Clerk Afterward to wit on the twenty fourth day of November in the year aforesaid the Administrator and Administratrix aforesaid, in conformity with the above mentioned order of Court, filed in the Office of the Clerk of said Court their Bond in the words and figures following to wit. Know all Men by these presents that we, Lucy Johnson an Wooster Benjamin as principals and Epaphrus Lyman and Benjamin Carpenter as sureties of the County of Ashtabula in the State of Ohio are held and firmly bound unto Jonathan Warner Treasurer of the County aforesaid in the Penal sum of Two hundred Dollars Lawful money of the United States to which payment well and truly to be made unto the said Jonathan Warner and to his successor in Office we do bind ourselves our heirs executors and Administrators and every of them jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated the 29th day of October Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and twenty five. The condition of the above obbligation is such that of the above named Lucy Johnson Administratrix and Benjamin Carpenter Administrator of all and singular the Goods chattels and credits of Nathan C. Johnson, late of the County and State aforesaid Deceased, do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said Deceased which have or shall come to the knowledge hands or possession of the said Administratrix and Administrator or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for them (signed by the Appraisers mentioned in the Letters of Administration) and return the same together with a bill of sale of the goods and chattels of the said deceased, and also a true and Accurate Statement of the debts due and owing to the estate to the Clerks Office of the County Aforesaid within three months from the date hereof; and moreover make or cause to be made a true and Just account of their Administration on or before the 29th day of March A 1827 and do administer agreeably to the Statutes of the State of Ohio in such case made and provided: And if it shall hereafter appear that any last will or testament was made by the said Deceased, and the executor or executors therein named or any other person or persons do exhibit the same and request to have it allowed and approved, if the said Lucy Johnson and Wooster Benjamin being thereunto required, do render and deliver the letters of Administration granted on the estate of the said Deceased to the Office from which the same were Issued: then this obbligation to be void: otherwise to remain in full force and virtue in law. Schedule of debts to the estate of Nathan C. Johnson A Note made by Calvin S. Parker to Nathan C. Johnson (the date not known) but is supposed to be given in the year 1817 with interest $7.44. A Note made by Nathaniel Hubbard dated Jan. 21,1825 6.34 An Account with L. Marvin and J. Adams supposed to be $4.00 or 5.00 Also Notes left in the hands of S.
