Certificate of Pension issued the 24th day of Sep-- tember 1835 and sent to R.H. Knapp Coneaut. Arrears to the 4th of Sept 1835 $150. (?) allowance ending $150. Revolutionary Claim Act June 7, 1832. Sent to Pen agt' 29th same month ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- The State of Ohio Ashtabula County on this ninth day of May in the Year of our Lord of eighteen hundred & thirty five personally appeared before me Mr. Ashbel Dant, one of the associte Judges of the Court of Com- mon Pleas within & for the County of Ashtabula aforesaid, Andress Parker, a resident of Conneaut township in the County of Ashtabula aforesaid aged Seventy Five years, who having first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 7th 1832. That he entered the service of the United States under the following named officers & served as herein stated: That he was born on the 8th day of Novermer AD 1759 in the township of Waterbury, County of New Haven & State of Connecticut & lived there until he was sixteen years of age when he removed to New Bethlehem, Albany County & State of New York - That in the latter part of May 1776 he was then residing at New Bethlehem aforesaid when he enlisted as a fifer, for five months under Captain Caleb Bently of the 1st Company, 1st Battalion, New York Militia, & on the first day of the following June he went down the North River to Fort Constitution opposite West Point. That he remained in said Company at Fort Constitutiion until the following January When he was discharged & received his regular discharge from the Captain - that he remained longer than his regular term of five months in consequence of request from Genl Washington to Col Humphrey to keep his troops longer - that his company officers were Capt Caleb Bently, Lieut Van Frank (?), & Ensign Magee E-- Vanbensallear (?) & that Col Humphrey & Major Hendrick Van versillen were the field officers of his Regiment - That his duty during that period was to keep garrison - he thinks he received his discharge about the 12th January 1777 - That during the latter part of the February following (1777) he enlisted under Ensign John Riley, during the ---- of Genl Timothy Brook - That from that time until the latter part of following May, he was engaged under the said Riley in Scouting & looking after the tories - that in the latter part of May aforesaid Capt Caleb Bently took command of his company of which he the said Parker was a Member & marched it to Fort Edwards -that he continued under the command of Capt Bently until about the first of the following January when he received his legal discharge - That during the time he was with the Main Army under Genls Schyler & Gates, that he was in the battle at White- water in the month of October, 1777 - that his Comp- any officers were Capt Caleb Bently, Lieut John Shaw & Ensign John Riley - Col Stephen Schyler & Maj Hend- rick Vanversillen were his field officers - that in the month of June following (1778) he enlisted under Captain Ellsworth for four months as a Boatman to carry provisions to the different ports on the North & Mohawk Rivers - that he served out his term of four months & received his legal discharge - that his Lieutenants name was Bloodgood & the Ensigns name was Smith -- that in the month of June following (1779) he enlisted under Capt Caleb Bently, for four months, & immediately went to Fort Herkimer, & continued in the vicinity of the Mohawk River during the four months -- his duty during this time was in protecting the inhabitants against the depredations of the Indians -- that he was in several skirmishes with the Indians during that time -- his company officers were Capt. Caleb Bently, Lieut John Riley & Ensign Hugh McMannery -- That in the end of the four months he received his legal discharge -- that in 1793 his house was burnt together with all of his said several discharges. He was then living at LaFayette, LaFayette County, New York --that he has resided since the fall of 1779 three years in Charlemont Mass, in Lafayette aforesaid six years, in Genesee, New York five years--in Causiawago Pa. ten years & the rest of the time in Conneaut, aforesaid--That he resided in New Bethlehem aforesaid at the time he was not on Service from February 1776 to April 1781--that there is no record of his age extant on the records in Waterbury aforesaid, & in his own family Bible--that after his residing in Pennsylvania as aforesaid he lived ten years at Sandusky, Ohio & then removed to Conneaut as aforesaid where he now lives--that ---- Wright, Ralph Wright, Zebediah Thompson, Joseph Lilley reside in his neighborhood, & Asa Jacobs & Lemuel Jones, who know him & who can testify to his character for veracity & their belief of his service as a soldier in the Revolution. Andress Parker (signature) Sworn to & Subscribed this day & year first aforesaid Ashbel Dant, Associate Judge (signature) He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity extant the --- ----& declares that his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of any state. Ashbel Dant, Associate Judge (signature) We Asa Jacobs, a clergyman residing in the township of Conneaut, county of Ashtabula & State of Ohio, & Lemuel Jones residing in said Conneaut, hereby testify that we are well acquainted with Andress Parker who has subscribed & sworn to the above & foregoing declaration that we believe him to be seventy five years of age; that he is reputable & believed in the neighborhood where he resides to have been a soldier of the revolution, & that we concur in that opinion.
