The father and son were cutting a tree on the farm of Mrs. Minnie Phillips, a neighbor, when the branches caught in those of another, throwing the falling tree off its course. Mathews, who had moved to Harpersfield from Austinburg about two years ago, was rushed to Geneva hospital where he died about four hours later. Mr. Mathews was born in Warrensville, Ohio on Feb. 25, 1877. surviving are his wife, and three sons, Rollin and George at home and Milton, of Shaylersville, Ind. Funeral services will be held from the late home near Cork at 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon with burial made in Cleveland.
