Green, of this city, occurred at his residence on Park Street on Monday evening at eight o'clock, at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 3 days. Several weeks ago he was taken ill with inflammatory rheumatism, which was followed by Bright's disease, and which was the immediate cause of his death. He was born in Remsen, Oneida county, N.Y., on November 29th, 1820, and at the age of eighteen moved to Antwerp, N.Y., where he remained until 1868, and was engaged in mercantile and hotel business. He continued in the mercantile business until 1871, when he moved to Jaclson, Mich., and engaged in insurance business. In Feb., 1876, he came to Ashtabula where he continued in the insurance business until the date of his death, for several years past being associated with Mr. Fred A. Williams. He was married in 1846 to Maria Chapin, and two children, both daughters, were the fruit of this union, and all of whom survived him, one of his daughters Mrs. Geo. sherwood, now residing in Lowville, N.Y. The funeral will occur on Wed. afternoon at 2 p.m. at his residence, and will be conducted by the Rev. S. B. Hershey, of the Congregational church, after which the remains will be removed to Antwerp, N.Y., for interment. The deceased, when in health, was apparentently of a robust constitution, of a pleasant social disposition, and was generally respected and esteemed. In church and pemperance matters he was an energetic worker, and accomplished much good by his example and practices.
