She had been sick only a short time and leaves a babe but two weeks old. Mrs. Jenkins was formerly Mabel J. Morse, daughter of Lowell R. and Alice E. Morse of Richmond. She was graduated from Grand River Institute in 1900. She later took a two year course in Allegheny College, Meadville. She was a member of the Methodist church of Richmond, and lived a faithful and consistent Christian life. She was married to Mr. Nelson Jenkins August 22, 1906, and the years have been useful, happy ones Her funeral was held from her late home, number 348 Grove street, East Conneaut, June 10, 1915. Many sympathizing and sorrowing friends were present. Rev. F. C. Kreager of the First Baptist church of Conneaut and Rev Fisher, formerly of Richmond bore a part in the services. Rev. Ford of Zanesville officiating. Mr. Francis Woodard and Mrs. George Rockwell both of Andover sang three songs in a deeply impressive and beautiful manner. It was a sad funeral because all felt a burden of loss and sympathetic sorrow for the bereaved, but some way the light of God was over all. The casket rested in a great bank of flowers. Every one of the blossoms seemed like an expression of true love and esteem for the one who reposed in their midst. Mrs. Jenkins had made careful and wise preparation in the event that she might not live. She had selected the songs to be sung, the singers, and the minister to have charge of the services. She had also chosen the Scripture text to be used, from Titus 3:5. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but by the mercy He saved us. The following poem was written by Pastor J. C. Ford to express the feeling of the friends who had known her and as a just and true tribute to her memory: Our hearts are crushed down to earth With sorrow bitter and deep For a friend of priceless worth She loved this her earthly home For husband she’d give her life A heart brave staunch and so kind Striving for all others’ good With a frank and open mind For the right she always stood How can loved ones bare to part With one so true and so great It leaves but a bleeding heart But she’s entered Heaven’s gate Additional Comments: The remaining clipping cut off on Photo Copy File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/oh/ashtabula/obits/morsejen430nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/ohfiles/ File size: 3.0 Kb
