Six years ago, she moved from Jefferson to Ashtabula. She died at the South Ridge Rest Home in Unionville after an illness of several months. Rose Schmaltz was born 7 Feb 1874 in Fremont. Louis, her husband, and a daughter Esther Gronett predeceased her. Surviving her are two sons, Rupert of Jefferson and Harry of Ashtabula; four daughters, Mrs. Arthur Anderson of Ashtabula, Mrs. Clyde Sanderson of Cleveland, Mrs. Lloyd Graham of Dorset and Mrs. Carl Helleen of Niagara Falls. A sister Elizabeth Schutt and two brothers, Theodore Gassman and Otto Smith, all of Fremont, also survive. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Ashtabula and pastor Rev. J. Allen Snyder of the church officiated the service. Interment was at Oakdale Cemetery.
