Powell, 80, of 537 Patton St., Nelsonville, died Sunday at Mount St. Mary Hospital where he had been a patient for three weeks. Born in Athens County, the son of the late Joseph and Lydia Ann Warren-Powell, he was an honorably discharched army veteran of World War 1 and a retired coal miner. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Betty Hook, with whom he lived and Mrs. Bonnie O'Nail, both of Nelsonville; Mrs. Vera Kimble of Lancaster; and Mrs. Harriet Chalfan of Columbus; two sons, Billy Joe of Nelsonville Route 1 and Richard of Nelsonville; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Phillips of Nelsonville Route 1 and Mrs. Jane Robinson of Columbus; 16 grandchildren and 11 graet- grandchildren. He was preceeded im death by his parents, his wife Mildred, and one daughter Ruth Hook. Services arranged by the Johnson Funeral Home will be held Wednesday at 1 P.M. at the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church with the Rev. John Minsker officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.
