At his residence in this place, at half-past 1 o’clock, on Thursday, March 11th, John Sinclair, Esq., aged about 52 years. – Monroe Herald. The deceased was a native of Ireland, but he came to Belmont County more than 40 years ago, and resided her many years. He had been engaged for several years past in the practice of law at Woodsfield, where he leaves a large and interesting family, and he was there noted for his zeal in the trial of causes, for his extensive information, and for “his independent tongue and pen.” The writer of this hasty notice had good opportunity to know him well, and cheerfully bears testimony that he was possessed of a kind, generous, heart. And although his health has been rapidly failing for several months, he approached the grave “Like one who wraps the draper of his couch About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.” J. Cowen, Esq., suddenly, of heart disease, Oella enters, aged 13 years and 1 month. “As the bird to its sheltering nest, When the storm on the hills is abroad, So her spirit has flown from this world of unrest, To repose on the bosom of God.” Belmont Chronicle, June 24, 1858, page 3. Church of which she remained a member until the Master called her, to “join the general assembly of the Church of the first born, whose names are written in Heaven”. As a taper, that, without being disturbed by any blast of wind, expires of its own accord, when the wax that kept it alive, and nourished its flame is totally spent, so she calmly fell asleep – asleep in death. ON the 3d inst., at her father’s house, Sinai, daughter of John and Margaret Melan, aged 18 years and 12 days. She died as she had lived, calmly and peacefully. A short time before she died she remarked, “This world is bright and beautiful; and it would be pleasant to remain a while; yet I am resigned and going to a better home.” She called her friends to her bedside, bid them all adieu and without a struggle breathed her life sweetly away. He bore the pain of his sickness with great fortitude, and died, as is hoped, trusting in the atonement of the Savior for his acceptance with God. He had been a regular attendant at the Sabbath School and Church, and when asked a little while before his death if he thought he would die, and what would become of him, he said, “In Heaven there are a great many little boys and girls, and I shall be among them.” Blessed by the dead who die in the Lord.” On the morning of the 20th ult., of Dysentery, Mrs. Eleanor Clarke, wife of Alexander Clarke, of Richland Tp., Bel.
