I, James Alexander Senior of Peas Township, Belmont County, State of Ohio, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, and first I commend my soul to God who gave it, and my body the dust whence it came to be buried in a christian like manner at the discretion of my executors whom I authorize to lay out one hundred dollars in procuring a tomb-stone and other necessaires about my grave. And secondly I give and bequeath to my children as follows: To Andrew, Jean, Margaret, Mary, Genet, Thomas and Elizabeth to each one dollar; and also one dollar to the children of my daughter Agness. Thirdly the remainder of my estate, both real and personal, I give and bequeath to my following children, viz.: James, John, Peter, and Robert, whom I appoint to be my heirs alone to be equally divided amongst them, and lastly I appoint my sons James & John Alexander to be the executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen. James Alexander. Additional Comments: This will mentions his children by both of James II Seniors' wives. (1) Margaret Wilson 1735-1767(who died in Scotland)married 18 Dec 1757, their children: Andrew, Jean, James, Elizabeth & Margaret; (2) Margaret Clark 1743- 1809(widow of James Ross 1739-1767 who died in Scotland; children by the first marriage were John & Isabella Ross)married 29 Dec 1767 in Campbelltown, Argyll, Scotland, their children: Agnes, John, Mary, Peter, Robert, Genet & Thomas. This family immigrated first to the Welsh Quaker area in Pennsylvania, then went west to York County, Penna., then further west to Belmont County, Ohio. James and Margaret both served in the Revolutionary War and it is noted on their gravesites at Scotch Ridge.
