Davee (aldavee@txcyber.com) Belmont County Ohio York Township Will Book Vol. F, page 308 SURNAME: COFFMAN, GREEN Will transcribed as written without corrections Probate Records of June term 1837 Estate of Reason Coffman dec'd § Be it remembered that at this June term of the Court of Common Pleas within and for the County of Belmont and State of Ohio, began and held on the nineteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven was brought into Court and presented for probate the last Will and Testament of Reason Coffman dec'd and Henry C (E?) Green and William McGeary two of the subscribing witnesses thereto appeared in Court and being solemnly sworn say that they saw the testator sign said Will, that they subscribed the same as witnesses in the presence of the testator and at his request that the testator at the time of signing said will was of sound mind and memory of full age and not under any restraint: Whereupon said will is approved and ordered to be recorded with the proof now taken which said will is here now entered of record in the words following. Will to wit: "In the name God Amen. I Reason Coffman of York Township Belmont County and State of Ohio now being lying on my bed, being very weak and languishing with sickness, but of sound mind and reason blessed be God for the Same, and considering the uncertainty of life in this earthly habitation do make this my last Will and testament vis: First of all, Commend my immortal Soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to be buried in a Christian like manner. And of such earthly property as it hath pleased God to bless me with I allow that the necessary charges of my sickness and funeral expenses be paid together with my just debts out of my property wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with. And secondly it is my will and testament that the remainder of my earthly property I do give and bequeath to my dear and loving wife Lavinia Coffman and family for their sole use and benefit and to be managed in the following manner vis: my outstanding debts and money to be laid out in purchasing a piece of land that it may be applied solely to the use of my dear wife above named and family all together. And it is my further will that no expenses of Court charges be added to diminish my property unnecessarily. And that I do appoint my loving and trusty friend, through his consent Robert B. Green my sole executor to manage my estate and to see to my dear family as I above specified and to do as seemeth in his judgement to be the best for my dear and loving family I comfort and support. And I do ordain and certify this to be my last will and testament and that it is my will that be conducted as herein specified and do sign the same with my hand and seal this 16th day of May 1837. his Reason X Coffman seal Mark Signed and testified in presence of us § And who in the presence of the testator § Have signed as witnesses – Henry G. Green, § William McGeary, Randolph Green § Thereupon on motion the Court grant Letters testamentary on said Estate to Robert B. Green the Executor named in said will and do require said Executor to give bond with security in the sum of Sixteen hundred dollars and Isaac H. Green and David McIntire being offered are accepted as such security. The Court appoint William R. Carle, George Green, and William P. Simpson appraisers of said Estate. Executor Sworn in open Court and bond filed. Thereupon letters testamentary on said Estate together with a copy of the foregoing Will and rules of Court thereto attached issued under Seal of said Court to the said Robert B. Green.
