B., Newburgh Journal Company 1907, on pages 92 & 93: Isaac RHOADES, son of Isaac [and Charity HILL], was born in Philipse Precinct in 1759 and died at Yorktown, Westchester County, N. Y. He was known as Deacon Rhoades, and from 1798 to 1809 preached at the Baptist Church, Yorktown. He married Mary, daughter of William and Bethiah (SMITH) HILL, of Red Mills, N. Y. She was born 1759, died at Yorktown, January 21, 1821. Among the children of Isaac and Mary (HILL) RHOADES were Isaac, born about 1773; Mary, Hannah, Eliza; Charity, born December 8, 1780, died April 14, 1847; John Cornelius, removed to Ohio; Ezekiel, Rhoda, Elizabeth, Nancy, and Harriet. Isaac RHOADES, son of Isaac [and Mary HILL] married Mary MARGINSON. She died in 1856. Their children were Samuel, John, Isaac, Susan, Hannah and Eliza. There is no further information on Isaac RHOADES, his wife Mary MARGINSON, or their children. I don't think this is your Samuel, but I wanted you to have the information so you could make the determination yourself. There were other grandchildren and gr-grandchildren of Isaac RHOADES and Charity HILL bearing the surname RHOADES that did head south and died in Virginia. No one is listed further south than Virginia although some are in Indiana, Ohio, and Iowa while many stayed in New York. Dallas, because, of your name, you might find it of interest to know that the following information is also recorded in the Hill Genealogy: Sarah [daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth (SECOR) RHOADES, granddaughter of James and Mary (HILL) RHOADES, gr-granddaughter of Isaac and Charity (HILL) RHOADES], born November 13, 1814, Clinton, Duchess County, N.
