The parlors were filled with loving friends and relatives who spent the afternoon with games and music. One contest which created amusement for the guests was the writing of original poems about the bride and groom to be. As each poem was read they called forth much laughter. The first prize was won by Miss Viola Meyers, a box of fancy stationary; and the second by Miss Edna Frazer, a pretty little picture of cupid. The bride-to-be was blind-folded and led into a room where piled high upon a table were the many beautiful gifts of linen. At 5 o'clock the guest were invited into the dining room where garlands of hearts and wedding hells and flags were hung overhead. The center of the table was banked with red carnations and fern. At each place were tiny houses bedecked with bluebirds which are symbolical of happiness and these contained heart draped mints. The place cards were little cupids and they were atop the bonbon boxes. Ices and cake were served after which the guests departed leaving with the bride-elect their best wishes for success and happiness and complimenting the hostess on her delightful mode of entertainment.
