Died in the hospital at Little Rock, Ark., October 4th, 1863, Thomas R. Whitaker, 
member of Co. I, 98th O. V. I., aged 22 years. Mr. W. was born in Carroll County,
Ohio… When the troubles of our country broke out, he was prosecuting his studies at
Washington, Pa., and in August 1862, volunteered .his service, and if need be, his
life for the defence of his country…
