Sgt Jenks enlisted in the WAC on 28-Dec-1942 and received her training at Miami, Fla, after which she shipped to North Africa. After serving in Africa she was sent to Italy, from which point she was shipped home. The Piqua Daily Call dated 4-Sept-1945 pg 6 WAC IS DISCHARGED ST.PARIS T-4 Betty Jenks, daughter of H.F. Jenks, of St. Paris has received her honorable discharge from the WAC’s at Ft. Sheridan, Ill, following service overseas in the European Theater of Operations. She was clerk typist for 18 months. She entered the service on 28-Nov-1942, was overseas in September 1943 where she served until Feb. 15, 1945. She was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the ETO Theater Ribbon with one bronze battle star and the WAC service ribbon and three overseas bars.
