Herman O. “Shorty” Allen, age 77, of St. Paris passed away at 12:35 p.m. on 
Thursday, January 31, 2013, in his residence. Born on March 1, 1935, in Sidney, 
he was a son of the late Joseph E. and Laura (Davis) Allen. He is survived by 
four children, Jeanie Allen of Crooksville, Sandy Allen, Nathan Allen (Stormi 
Garrett) and Katie Allen, all of St. Paris, and five grandchildren, Christoffer 
and Alana Allen, Hailee and Cody McAlexander and Chase Allen. Five sisters and 
one brother also survive: sisters Ruth Armstrong of Urbana, Dora of Colorado, 
Joanne, Ada, Mabel and Sarah of Florida; and brother Calvin of Florida. He is 
also survived by the mother of his children, Shirley Allen of St. Paris. In 
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother. Herman was 
retired from KTH, St. Paris. A graveside memorial service will be held at the 
convenience of the family in Nettle Creek Cemetery, Urbana. Condolences to the

216 S. Springfield Street, St. Paris, is serving the family.
