Funeral Hone
ARMER, Benjamin E. "Ben" Jr. 89, a resident of the Otterbein Retirement 
Center, Cridersville and formerly of Springfield, died at 4:38 p.m., Sunday, 
June 12, 2011 in St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born in Springfield 
on February 8, 1922 the son of the late Benjamin E. and Phyllis (Gearhart) 
Armer. Ben proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a member of 
Underwater Demolition Team #6. He retired from WPAFB after 27 years of 
service. He was a long-time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 
Springfield. In 1959, he married Donna Ercel (Shepherd) Armer, who preceded 
him in death on July 5, 2005. He is survived by a son, Benjamin E. Armer III 
of Australia; a sister, Elizabeth Eichman of Springfield; a brother, David H. 
(Marilyn) Armer of Wapakoneta; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded 
in death by two brothers, George and Donald Armer and two sisters, Charlotte 
Spees and Jean Campbell. Ben's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. 
Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Richard McDaniel 
officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. 
Burial with military honors will be held in Terre Haute Cemetery. You may
