Kerner Baker, 91 of 6139 W. State Route 29, Urbana, Ohio went to be with the Lord peacefully on December 22, 2011 at her home on the family farm. She was born September 1, 1920, in Putnam County, Ottawa, Ohio, daughter of Alphonsus and Emma Meyers Kerner. Florence was married to Noble Bake during WWII on October 24, 1941. She graduated from Bliss Business College in Columbus and although she did work some outside the home, her primary vocation was: a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and gracious friend. As a Christian, she influenced, guided, and touched her family and those around her. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Noble (Ned) Baker who died in 1993. In addition to her parents, two brothers Clarence and Herman, an infant brother Leo, and a sister Leona (Harry) Neuswander have gone to be with the Lord. She is survived by her five grateful children, Marsha Tomlin and Rollin Tomlin of Wilmington, Sharon (David) Lucid of Urbana, Terry L. Baker of Urbana, Debra Baker of Venice, Florida and Daniel Beresford of Cincinnati, and Kirk A. (Linda) Baker of Seattle. The fourteen grandchildren who called her grandmother are Rollin C. (Lisa) Tomlin of Frederick, Md, Jonathan S. (Kelly) Tomlin of Georgetown, Nathan B. (Amanda) Tomlin of Mt. Sterling, Ky, Tiffany (Greg) Walls of Wilmington, Amy (Doug) Carroll of Englewood, Natalie (Mike) Gilmore of Arcanum, Greg (Catherine) Lucid of Nashville, Kirk Faul of Cincinnati, Krystina (Bob) Lamb of Phoenix, Danielle Baker of Cincinnati, Paul E. Baker of Yuma, Az, Mark A. (Amy) Baker of Spokane, Wa, Benjamin (Melissa) Baker of Seattle, and Autumn (Andrew) Wakeman of Nashville. In addition she has enjoyed 25 great grandchildren and had one great great grandchild. Mrs. Baker is also survived by one sister-in-law Jan Baker of Reynoldsburg, numerous nieces and nephews, and some very special friends. Mrs. Baker was a long time member of Concord United Methodist Church and the Women’s Society. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening January 6, 2012 at the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main Street, Urbana. A celebration of her life will be held at Concord Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with viewing from 10:30 to 11 on Saturday. Burial will be at Concord Methodist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Baker’s grandsons.
