St. Paris--Walter D Barger, 82, formerly of St. Paris, died Saturday at 8:55 am i
in the Champaign County Nursing Home.  He had been in failing health for s
several years.
He was born in Champaign County, Oct. 6, 1896, the son of Douglas and Amanda
Shawver
Shawver Barger.
He retired in 1963 from International Harvester Company, Springfield, where had b
been employed as a storekeeper.
He was a member of the Covenant Lutheran Church, St. Paris.  His wife, the 
former Helen McBeth, died Oct.22.
He is survived by one son, Alan, of St. Paris, one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Sue) 
Friend of Troy, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Two sisters a
are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 pm in the Richeson-Wickham & Atkins 
Funeral Home, St. Paris.  The Rev. Frank Gross, church pastor will officiate.  
Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.
