She was born October 29, 1919 in Springfield, Ohio the daughter of Cora (Fink) and A.G. Samuelson. Mrs. Bauer was a 1937 graduate of Springfield High School. She continued her education at the Indiana University and graduated in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. While attending the university she was president of the Delta Gamma Sorority. After graduation, she worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and for the American Red Cross. On September 25th, 1943 she married, William Crain Bauer. They had three sons, Donald Crain Bauer, Rodney Samuelson Bauer and Anders Gustave Bauer. In 1967, Mrs. Bauer was employed with WCOM FM; where she hosted the Coffee Commentary Radio Show and Down on the Farm. She also, taught typing and business class and served as faculty advisor for the yearbook and the newspaper at Mechanicsburg High School. Mrs. Bauer was a member of the Urbana Church of Epiphany; as well as a member of The Better Gardens Club and Monday Afternoon Club. She was an avid golfer, tennis player, and traveler. She visited many countries with her family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed her family and the family farm. Her survivors include, her sons, Donald C. (Jane) Bauer of Urbana and Anders G. (Nita) Bauer of South Vienna, her grandchildren, Heather (Gary) Bauer Staley of Urbana, Chuck (Kerry) Bauer of Springfield, Jennifer (Brent) Schreckengost of Atlanta, GA, Ashley Bauer (Jeff Boland) of Paris, IL, Cheryl (Jesse) Edwards of Urbana and Angela (Nicholas) Sahayda of South Vienna, her great grandsons, Will Bauer, Charlie Bauer and Graham Edwards; her sister-in-laws, Barbara Samuelson of Maine and Anne Samuelson Mason, Prescott, AZ, her nieces and nephews, Eric Samuelson, Jane Samuelson Durkott, Lucy Samuelson Millman, Jay Samuelson, Jan Samuelson Olgilvie, Scott Samuelson, Shawn Samuelson Henry, Thor Samuelson, Nord Samuelson, Lucy Bauer, Susan Kester, Steven Maloney and Mark Maloney. Mrs. Bauer is preceded in death by her husband, William C. Bauer, her son, Rodney S. Bauer, her granddaughter, Kristen L. Bauer and her brothers, Donald A. (Magdelan) Samuelson, Roger B. Samuelson and Paul F. Samuelson. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 in the Urbana Episcopal Church of Epiphany (2 blocks east of the square) with the Rev. Dr. Timothy West officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana. The Celebration of Louises Life will continue starting at 5 p.m. at the Hearthstone Farm, 3546 St. Rte. 54, Urbana, Ohio.
