Bishop, 85, of Urbana, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in the Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana. He was born Oct. 28, 1922, at home in North Lewisburg, a son of the late Glenn and Carrie Grant Bishop. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II. He attended Middleburg High School. He did carpenter and paint work with his brother while working second shift at International Truck and Engine, from where he retired. Survivors include three children, John (Connie) Bishop and Linda (Randy) Thomas, both of Urbana, and Sandy (Larry) Craig of West Liberty; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Donna) Bishop of Huntsville and Jack Bishop of West Liberty; a sister, Kathryn Miller of West Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rose Rafferty, and three brothers, Byron, Cyril and Jim. Pastor Ron Irick conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday at Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana, where calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial follows in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
